Jack H. Herold, 70, of Monterey, died Monday, July 26, 2004 at his residence.
He was born October 31, 1933 at Monterey, a son of the late Charles Roscoe and Daisy Enid Hull Herold.
On June 7, 1958, he married Gailya Osborne.
Mr. Herold owned and operated H&H Cash Store in Monterey since 1959. He was an Elder in Monterey Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army. For 25 years, he was a member of the Monterey Lions Club and Trustee for Monterey Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Leo Herold and a sister Jessie Hess.
He is survived by his wife, Gaye Herold of Monterey; a daughter Teresa H. Ross of Staunton; two sons, Michael E. and his wife, Tomi S. Herold of Monterey and Kenneth H. Herold of Monterey’ two granddaughters, Shelly Danielle Simmons and Rachel Elaine Ross, both of Staunton; four sisters, Mamie H. and her husband Dick Eagle of Monterey, Margaret H. Rexrode and Jean H. Harmon, both of Northern Virginia and Sue H. and her husband, Dareld Puffenbarger of Hightown; and two brothers, Charles R. Herold Jr., of Fredericksburg and Warren B. “Mike” and his wife, Mamie Herold of Staunton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Monterey Presbyterian Church by the Rev. James W. “Bill” Moore and the Rev. C. William “Bill” Cox.
Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Fred Frye, Carolton Hull, James Varner, Everett Marshall, Pat Patterson, Kevin Simmons, William F. “Mickey” Fenn and Melvin “Bucky” Reynolds/
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Monterey Lions Club and Elders of the Monterey Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
