Alice Rosealba Vaus, passed away at home in Rockingham, Saturday August 10, 2019.
Alice was born October 23, 1928 in Hollywood, California, a daughter of the late William Lee and Helen Marguerite (Davis) Park.
On October 23, 1947 she married James Arthur Vaus, Jr., who predeceased her December 1, 1997.
On November 6, 1949, while attending a Billy Graham tent meeting, the Vauses both committed their lives to Jesus Christ as Savior. In 1952, Alice published a book entitled, “They Called My Husband a Gangster”. And in 1955 a feature film, “Wiretapper,” depicted their lives. In 1958, Jim and Alice launched Youth Development, Inc., a ministry to troubled youth in Spanish Harlem, New York City. As a wife and mom often in the kitchen preparing delicious meals, she was the behind-the-scenes supporter of husband and family. In her latter years she enjoyed writing poetry.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by three of her six children, Alissa G. Vaus, Roger A. Vaus and Madeline L. Vaus; along with siblings, Helen M. Price and William L. Park, Jr.
She leaves behind three sons and four daughters-in-law, Dennis Craig and Kathleen Diane Vaus of Rockingham, Steven Timothy and Corrie Vaus of Poway, CA., William James and Rebecca Vaus of Stowe, VT. , Lorrie Vaus of Redding, CA; twelve grandchildren; as well as, ten great grandchildren.
