Edna Mae Booth, 75, of McDowell passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at her home.
She was born May 10, 1937 in the Clover Creek Community of Highland County, a daughter of the late Virgil Roscoe and Elizabeth McDonald Hamilton Simmons.
Mrs. Booth was a homemaker and caretaker, who especially loved taking care of children. She had also worked as a cafeteria worker at Stonewall Elementary School. She was a member of McDowell Presbyterian Church. She loved to work puzzles and enjoyed sewing.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Gail Simmons, Faye Cleek and Virginia Neff.
She is survived by her daughter and sonin law, Wanda and Gary Wimer of McDowell; three sons and daughter-in-law, William Booth and special friend, Sherry Alphin of Churchville, Larry Booth of Churchville and David and Penny Booth of Swoope; nine grandchildren, Barry, Shawn and Jennifer Booth, Adam and Dustin Wimer, Curtis and Travis Booth, and Brittany and Kasey Booth; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Hodge of Warm Springs, Mary Rexrode of Churchville and Nancy Hatcher and husband, Russell Jr. of Churchville; brother, Wayne Simmons of Staunton; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kelly Moats, Kay Smith, Glenna Neil and Craig and Belinda Smith.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Beth Pyles officiating.
Burial was in Clover Creek Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Craig Smith, Stuart Neil, Dennis Botkin, Billy Hiner, Eddie Moyers, Charlie Losh and Derek Smith. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.
