Eleanor Stephenson Pugh, 86, died Sunday, morning, January 6, 2002 at the Springs Nursing Center.
Her home was in the Medowdale community in Highland County.
She was born August 31, 1915, in Greenbrier County, W.Va., a daughter of Alexander and Mary Slaven Stephenson,
On December 12, 1936, she married Edward N. Pugh Sr., who died on November 10, 1979. Her parents also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and had been an employee of First and Citizens Bank. She was a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Edward Pugh Jr. of Monterey; a granddaughter Hope P. Pjesky of Goltry, Okla.; two half-sisters and two half-brothers.
A service was conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Monterey Cemetery by the Rev. James W. Moore.
There is no viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ben, Jim and Holmes Stephenson, Doug Gutshall, Leo Gum and Gibbie Crummett.
