George Pinkney Hevener Jr., 80, died Saturday, January 26, 2002 at Bath County Hospital.
He was born December 8, 1921, at Monterey, a son of George P. and Bonnie Marie (Rexrode) Hevener Sr.
He was retired from the Virginia Department of Highways and he had also served in the Navy.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George Allan and Nancy Hevener; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marie Knapp of Bridgewater, Mary and Tom Beverage of Monterey, Thelma Bussard of Bolar, Rosa Waters of Triangle and Ruby and Jim Swecker of Blue Grass; one brother and sister-in-law, Henry and June Hevener of Monterey; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. James W. Moore with burial at Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Perry Warner, Mike Clayton, Carl Hiner, Mike Hammer, Jerry Burns and Donald Hull.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
