Homer Eugene Wolfe, 70, of Monterey, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.
He was born Feb. 4, 1934 at West Augusta, a son of the late George and Fannie Helmick Wolfe.
Mr. Wolfe had retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 30 years of employment.
On Sept. 22, 1962 he married Betty Lou Barkley Wolfe. One brother, Cecil Wolfe, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Barkley Wolfe of Monterey; two daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Johnny Puffenbarger of Doe Hill and Jeanne Wolfe of Monterey; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Billy Puffenbarger, of Doe Hill; two brothers Ernest Wolfe of Hot Springs, and Ray Wolfe of Texas; three sisters, Marie Wolfe of Lynchburg, Charlotte Lowry of Mitchelltown and Helen Higgins of Delaware, Ohio.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester LaPrade.
Burial was in Monterey Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Robert Marshall, Sonny Varner, Don Dowdy, Leonard Simmons, Eddie Hartman, James Sponaugle and Jim Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers were friends in attendance.
