Mary Maxine (Hevener) Beverage

August 3, 1930 ~ August 30, 2019 (age 89)

Mary Maxine Beverage, age 89, widow of Walter “Tom” Lee Beverage, of Monterey, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at The Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs.

She was born August 3, 1930 in Monterey, a daughter of the late George P. and Bonnie (Rexrode) Hevener.

Mrs. Beverage was a homemaker and member of the former Sybert Chapel United Methodist Church.  A devoted wife and mother, Mary was known as being quite talented in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking meals for her family.  Outside of the home she could be found helping Walter with farm chores and spent many hours tending to her vegetable garden, which always provided a bountiful harvest.  Mary also loved time spent canning, knitting, crocheting and really enjoyed making her maple candy for the maple producers and stores throughout the county.  Above all, she will be remembered as a loving, supportive, and selfless person to both family and friends and will be certainly missed.

In addition to her husband of 57 years and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas C. Hevener, George P. Hevener, Jr., and Henry M. Hevener; as well as a sister, Marie Knapp. 

Surviving family members include her sons, Bob and Wayne Beverage of Monterey; daughter, Patricia Donaldson and husband, Jon of Monterey; and the granddaughters Mary loved so much, Emily, Sarah, and Annie Donaldson all of Monterey; sisters, Ruby Swecker of Monterey, Thelma Bussard of Bolar, and Rosa Barron of Triangle also survive.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2019 in Beverage Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.

The family will receive friends a half-hour prior to the service at the graveside.

Pallbearers include Jim, Berlin, and Dean Beverage, J. L. Swecker, Tommy Dever and Stu Simmons.
