Charlotte Ritchie

February 28, 1936 — May 4, 2021

Charlotte Louise (Mauzy) Ritchie, 85, widow of Robert Ritchie of Verona, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab.

She was born February 8, 1936 in Hightown, a daughter of the late Roscoe and Nola Blanche (Harper) Mauzy. On June 8, 1963 she married Robert Lee Ritchie, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2020.

Charlotte was a member of the former Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Blue Grass and after moving to Verona, she became a member of Verona United Methodist Church.  She graduated from Elizabeth Brant School of Business in Staunton and worked for several employers over the years, including Woolworth and Westinghouse. She ultimately retired from AMP Incorporated in Harrisonburg.

A woman of strong spirit, she never lost sight of what brought her the greatest joy in life, caring for and being in the presence of her loved ones. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and caregiver.  Crafting, flower gardening, scrapbooking, and attending church were among the things she enjoyed. She made her grandchildren feel so special ... she would frequently smile and tell them “love you most”.  Kind and nurturing, Charlotte enriched many lives.

Mrs. Ritchie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Ronald W. Harris Jr. of Mount Sidney; son, Lee Ritchie of Staunton; siblings, Larry Mauzy and wife, Phyllis of Verona, Michael Mauzy and wife, Vickie of Hightown, Julia Ann Evick and husband, Richard of Harrisonburg; as well as her grandchildren, Laurence “Larry” Ritchie of Staunton, Christine Harris of Mount Sidney, Lauren Brintzenhofe and husband, Luke of Harrisonburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Willliam Mauzy; and an infant sister, Betty Jean Mauzy.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Blue Grass Cemetery with Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association Home Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or to Blue Grass Cemetery, 3042 Blue Grass Valley Road, Blue Grass, VA 24413.
