Nettie Loleta “Lody” Armstrong, 72, of Doe Hill passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 23, 1946, a daughter of the late Mary Louise (Taylor) and George Phillip Morris in Staunton. On December 5, 1964 she married Lyle Wayne Armstrong.
Lody was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church and also attended St. Paul Independent Lutheran Church. She had worked at Genesco Sewing Factory in Verona and later retired as the postmaster for the United States Postal Services in Doe Hill.
She shared her voice with many as a soloist at churches, revivals and radio fundraisers; enjoyed traveling around the area to play Bingo and taking family vacations to Outer Banks, N.C. but above all, Lody loved her Lord and Savior, husband, children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George Morris Jr. and Lee Morris.
In addition to her husband, Lyle Armstrong, she is survived by two daughters Kimberly A. Griffin and fiancé Shawn Huffman of Bridgewater and Kelly Moyer and husband, Billy of Dayton; a son, Jess Armstrong and wife, Sharon of Swoope; five grandchildren Jason Armstrong and wife, Rachael; Megan Griffin, Dustin Gilbert, Katelynn Moyer and Danni Armstrong; great-grandson, Elijah McKinnell; a great-granddaughter due in August; as well as three sisters, Bonnie Pannell of Texas, Patricia Hawpe of Tennessee and Sandra Roberts of South Carolina.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Smith and Chilton McPheeters officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
