CLIFTON FORGE, VA Alletta Opal "Dickie" Arrington, 85, of Clifton Forge and formerly of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 4, 1928 in Neola, WV, a daughter of the late Earl Watson and Violet Rae (Bussard) Watson Roberts. Mrs. Arrington was a homemaker and had also worked at Aileen, Inc. for thirteen years. She was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church. On July 12, 1946, she married Elmer Ryland "Tuck" Arrington, whom preceded her in death on August 21, 2008. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Linda Jo Lopez and her sister, Waneta Mays. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy A. and Edgar Yancey of Covington; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ryland W. "Pete" and Debbie Arrington of Midlothian, Berkley M. Arrington and Melvin D. Arrington, both of Henrico and William G. and Donna Arrington of Sugar Grove, WV; son-in-law Fernando Lopez and wife, Christine of Clifton Forge; grandchildren, John Yancey and wife, Michelle of Middleburg, FL, Major Joseph Yancey, MD and wife, Susie of Springfield, Erin Huffman and husband, Chris of Covington, Ashley Bland and husband, Michael of Kansas City, MO, Megan McCullough and husband, Shane of Charleston, WV, Scott Lopez and wife, Stephania of Roanoke, Patrick Lopez of Clifton Forge, Shaun Bowers and wife, Leslie of Sugar Grove, WV, Tiffany Arrington and fiancé, Bruce Whitlock of Sugar Grove, WV and Evan Arrington of Sugar Grove, WV; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Roman Yancey, Rachel and Ben Yancey, Tyler and Brayden Huffman, Nate Michie, Mabel and James Bland and Ava Bowers; special great-grandchildren, Stephen and Justin Nicely; brother-in-law, James Arrington and wife, Eloise of Covington and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Covington Baptist Church with the Rev. Virgil Woodie officiating. The committal service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Monterey Cemetery. Mrs. Arrington's grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and her granddaughters as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
