HEAD WATERS
Anne Crawford Sylvest, age 79, devoted wife of Dr. Vernon Martin Sylvest for 30 years, of Healing Waters Farm, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, peacefully at home surrounded by family.
She was born November 16, 1936 in Winchester a daughter of the late James Jamison and Josephine Millner Crawford of Strasburg.
Anne worked as a registered nurse and was well known for her paintings, which she showed throughout the Richmond area and wider Virginia art community. She also loved gardening, reading, the cello and her beagles.
Her life touched many, and she will remain in our memories forever.
Anne is survived by her loving family, children, Julia, George, Christian and William Thomas Wiles and stepdaughters, Tasha Sylvest Walsh, Rebecca Sylvest and Vivian Sylvest. She was a proud grandmother to Jordan Wiles, Jessica and Nate Wiles, Timothy, Lexi and Tricia Wiles, Dylan, Bryan and Brenna Walsh, and Aidan and Kieran O’Reilly. She also leaves behind her beloved brother, James Crawford, Jr. his wife, Joan; sister, Mary Mayhew, her husband, Edward; aunt, Sug Ware; cousins, Martha, Mary and Walker Ware, Sophia Ritenour and Sally Cromelin.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2016 in the Hiner Church of the Brethren, 85 Hiner Church Rd, McDowell, VA 24458 (off Doe Hill Rd, Route 654). A reception will follow.
