Bebe (Lockridge) Marshall

March 19, 1937 — May 11, 2026

Williamsville

Bebe Jean (Lockridge) Marshall, age 89, of Williamsville, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026 at Allegheny Health and Rehabilitation in Clifton Forge. There she was lovingly cared for by staff, hospice, family, and friends for the past eight months.

She was born March 19, 1937 in Swoope, the only child of the late Robert Lee and Evelyn Christian (Bell) Lockridge. In 1956, she married Robert L. Marshall.

Bebe grew up on her parent’s farm near Williamsville, enjoying nature and all her neighborhood friends. She attended Williamsville Elementary School—a two room, multi-age level school where her mother was her primary teacher. Bebe graduated from Millboro High School in 1955 and attended Dunsmore Business College in Staunton for one year. From there, she began employment with Westinghouse in Staunton and began to grow her family, which would consist of five children. Additionally, she worked at Bath County Schools, The Homestead Hotel, and ultimately retired from MGW Telephone at the age of 72.

Bebe loved music and was the pianist of her community church, a position she cherished and retained until her vision no longer allowed her to perform. Considered by many to have been a “hub” of the community, Bebe will be fondly remembered for her roles within the local phone company, the Williamsville Presbyterian Church, and multiple civic activities. Always a lady, with a lovely personality, Bebe enjoyed and retained countless friendships, many of which originated during her high school years. And, without question, everyone loved the amazing food Bebe was known to prepare, especially her renowned buckwheat pancakes. Above all, she will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, work ethic, and certainly the beautiful and unforgettable smile she shared with everyone.

In addition to her husband of 69 years, she is survived by four sons, Robert “Bob” Jr. and wife, Bennie of Staunton, Barry and wife, Thea of Williamsville, Mark and wife, Kelley of Fishersville, and Timothy “Timmy” Marshall of Williamsville; her daughter, Cynthia Rafala and husband, Gary of Culpeper; grandchildren, Emma Marshall, Heather Bosserman and husband, Matt, Melody Helmick and husband, Brian, Jordan Marshall, Alexander Rafala, and Nathan Rafala; as well as great-grandchildren, Elina, Irelyn and Everly Bosserman.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2026 at Williamsville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Helen “Punker” Robertson and Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, as well as during a meal of fellowship following the committal service at the Campbell Hall Building, located next to the church.

Active Pallbearers will be Jordan Marshall, Nathan Rafala, Alexander Rafala, Ronnie Hodge, Billy Webb, Brian Puhle, Brian Helmick, and Matthew Bosserman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mel Herwald, Melody Helmick, Emma Marshall, and Heather Bosserman.
