Bedford "Buck" Lowry

Bedford “Buck” A. Lowry, 85, husband of Betty Lowry, of Waynesboro, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehab.

He was born July 15, 1932, in Mustoe, a son of the late James Augustis and Viola (Edmond) Lowry.

For 26 years, Buck served as a sanitation engineer for the City of Waynesboro. He loved fishing, hunting, mowing grass and working on vehicles. He will be remembered as a hard-working man and wonderful provider to his family, which he truly loved.

In addition to his wife and life-long companion, he is survived by two daughters, Vickie and Laurasteen Lowry, of Waynesboro; a nephew, he considered a son, Stevie “Shorty” Grogg, of Stuarts Draft; granddaughters, Zariah Lynn Lowry and Ella Grace Grogg; brother, Richard “Leo” Lowry of Verona; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 11 siblings.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie Redd officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home.

Active pallbearers will be Stevie Grogg, Mike Gibson, Alan and Matt Riddle, Layne Proffitt, Chad Sensabaugh and Aiden Kirchner.

Honorary pallbearer will be friends attending the service.

The family suggest memorial donations be made to Blue Grass Cemetery, 3042 Blue Grass Valley Road, Blue Grass, Va. 24413.
