Bertie Lee Stanford

Bertie Lee Standford, 79, of Richmond and formerly of McDowell, died Sunday night, January 19, 1992 at Chippenham Manor Nursing Home.

She was born September 25, 1912 in Highland County, a daughter of John W. and Mary Ann (Ervine) Botkin. She was a Sunday school teacher at McDowell United Methodist Church for a number of years before moving to Richmond. She was a member of New Hanover Presbyterian Church in Richmond.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret S. Hall of Beaverdam; a son, Robert S. Standford Jr. of Richmond; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester LaPrade, with burial in Head Waters Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gilmer Ervine, John Hammer, Shannon Maloy, Bill Huffman and Lewis Shumate.
