Bonnie Ralston

Blue Grass, VA Bonnie Marie Ralston, 89, of Blue Grass, and formerly of McDowell, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Pendleton Manor. Mrs. Ralston was born March 27, 1923 on Middle Mountain, a daughter of the late Charles and Leanna Frances (Lambert) Sponaugle. A homemaker, she attended Blue Grass United Methodist Church and the Highland County Senior Citizens Group, whose trips and activities she very much enjoyed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ralston was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles M. Ralston, Sr.; and two sisters, Lillian Mays and Maxine Manis. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles M., Jr. and Lenora Ralston of Blue Grass, Harry T. and Katherine Ralston of McDowell, Roger Lee and Betty Ralston of Verona, David J. and Judy Ralston of Monterey; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mattie Simmons of Hughesville, MD and Stella Collins of Virginia Beach; her brother, Fred Sponaugle and wife, Naomi of Broadway and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Burial will follow in McKendreeCemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland County Rescue Squad, P.O.
