Bruce Dove Newcomb, 57, of Staunton and formerly of Highland County, died Friday, September 21, 1990 in King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1933 in Pendleton County, WV, a son of the late Don and Eula (Mullenax) Newcomb.
Mr. Newcomb was a member of the Presbyterian Church and had retired from Smith's Transfer in July 1988 where he had been a truckdriver for 31 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Highland V.F.W. Post 4989. He graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, WV.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Wagner) Newcomb of Staunton; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Sonny Galvez of Staunton; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce (Dee) and Terrea Newcomb of Churchville; granddaughter, Jenna Galvez of Staunton; three sisters, Shirley Simmons and Bonnie Pugh, both of Monterey and Margaret Washburn of Franklin, WV; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A feneral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, by the Rev. Joy Johnson. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton with a grave committal at 1 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Carl Mullins, Leroy Rowe, Omer Strawderman, R.C. Meade, Paul Tuley and Earl Douglas.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends, relatives and former Smith's Transfer driver.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 this evening at the funeral home in McDowell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, 1601 N. Coalter Streets, Staunton, Va. 24401 or to the Jolivue United Methodist Church Building Fund.
