Carl Pinckney Armstrong, 71, of Monterey died Thursday evening, Oct. 15, 1987 in King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1916 at Laurel Gap, a son of Charles T. and Edmonia Stephenson Armstrong. On Aug. 26,1939 he married Janet Hull, who survives.
He was a member and trustee of Monterey United Methodist Church, a member of the Monterey Lions Club, secretary and treasurer of the Highland County Sheep and Wool Producers Association and a member of the North Country Sheviot Sheep Association. He had a served as Commissioner or Revenue in Highland County for 32.
In addition to his widow, surviving are a son, Michael Armstrong of Monterey; a stepson, Eddie Folks of Woodbridge; a half sister, Mrs. Emma J. Pugh of Bacova; a brother, Bernell Armstrong of Hot Springs; a half brother, Charles David Armstrong of Millboro; and five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday in Monterey United Methodist Church by the Rev. Betty A. Johnson, the Rev. Jerry Ginn and the Rev. C. William Cox, with burial in Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Gutshall, Austin Shepherd, Roy Robertson, Mack Ratcliffe, John Lohr, William Niswander, Jacob Hevener and Robert Shuttleworth.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Rescue Squad or the Highland County Volunteer Fire Department, Monterey, Va. 24465.
