STAUNTON, VA Carl Otis "Butch" Wilson, Sr., of Staunton, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at his home. He was born August 26, 1947 in Highland County a son of late Thurman Otis "Fuzzy" Wilson and Catherine (Malone) Wilson of Staunton. He was a member of Smokey Row Baptist Church and had been employed as a custodian for the City of Staunton. He loved spending time with his family and camping and was a Redskins football fan. Carl is survived by his wife, Vickie W. Wilson; his mother, Catherine Wilson and a special friend, William Woodson of Hagerstown, MD; two daughters, Carla "Sissy" Wilson and companion, Alan of Harrisonburg and Renee Terry and husband, Joe of Charlottesville; two sons, Carl Wilson, Jr. and wife, Tauheedah of Charlotte, NC and Christopher Wilson and companion, Cassandra of Port Orange, FL; three brothers, Lewis Wilson and wife, Sharon, Charlie Wilson and companion, Crystal, Ralph Wilson and companion, Cindy all of Staunton and twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.. Also surviving are seven step-children including, Keith Toliver and wife, Tabitha of Staunton, whom he raised; four step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Earl Lee Wilson. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. Samuel Anderson and Pastor Eric Strother officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Zane Davenport, Curtis Smith, Donald Anderson, Ronnie Lockridge, Donald Strother, Eric C. Wilson, Brad Sprouse and Darrell Ralston. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell and one hour prior to the service at the church.
