Carla Lousie West, 58, of Mustoe passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, following a long fight with neuropathy at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hereford, Texas on October 25, 1961 to the late Bill and Dixie Rae West.
As a young girl, Carla was active in 4-H, winning numerous awards. A graduate of Texas Tech, Carla was a field representative for the national Cotton Council traveling throughout Texas. Coming to Washington, D.C., Carla was a lobbyist for the National Cotton Council on environmental policy and the Texas Department of Agriculture on environmental policy.
Carla and her husband, Jim Finigan, married on June 28, 2008 and lived in Mustoe, Virginia running their trail riding outfit Sunshine Riders Ranch until her death.
Survivors in addition to her husband are a sister, Polly Bryant and husband, Darrell of Henrietta, Texas and their two children Matthew and Jackie Bryant; brother-in-law, Steve Reel and children, Sammy and Dixie Reel.
She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Glena Reel.
The family requests memorials be given to Highland 4-H program, payable to VCE-Highland, P.O. Box 528, Monterey, Va. 24465.
