Charles Roy Grant

Charles Roy Grant, 73, died Thursday morning, July 18, 1991 at his residence.

He was born November 17, 1917 at Montebello, the son of Charles Berry and Hattie Helen (Campbell) Grant.

On December 23, 1937, he married Janet Ruth Lockridge.

He was a member of McDowell United Methodist Church where he was Sunday school superintendent for a number of years. He was a past master of the Highland Masonic Lodge No. 110 AF/AM and was superintendent for the J.H. Fralin construction company for 15 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his wife of McDowell, survivors include a daughter, Janet Hevener of Clover, S.C.; three sons, Charles Billy of McDowell, Gene W. of Swoope and Roy L. Grant of McDowell; three brothers, Edward C. and Berry W., both of Stuanton, and Kenneth L. Grant of Swoope; a sister, Lorraine Livick of Staunton; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Mr. Grant was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Grant, during World War II.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in McDowell Untied Methodist Church in McDowell by the Revs. Steve McMillion and lee Chattin. Burial will be in the Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.

Pallbearers will be Leo and Bobby McCray, Glenn Darnell, Jacob Hevener, Sidney Simmons and Jim White.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and grands-in-law and friends attending the sergice.
