Charles Henry Hogshead, 61, of McDowell died Tuesday morning, January 26,1988 at his home.
Mr. Hogshead was born December 22, 1926, in McDowell and was a son of George W. Hogshead of McDowell and the late Hallie Ervin Hogshead.
He was a member of the McDowell Presbyterian Church and the Highland Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hogshead retired from the U. S. Postal Service January 2, 1986, after 34 years. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Highland Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Hammer Hogshead of McDowell; a son, George Leonard Hogshead of Matthews, N. C.; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at the Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lowell Stovall. Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Benny Ralston, Jack Lamb, Dr. D.W. Robinson, Gilmer Ervine, Bryon and Gilbert Pitsenbarger, Darwin King, Robert Nash, Dale Botkin and John D. Hammer.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in McDowell.
In lieu of flowers, the family said donations may be made to the McDowell volunteer Fire Department in care of William B. Huffman, McDowell, Va. 24458, or to the Highland Rescue Squad in care of James Thompson, Monterey, Va. 24465.
