St. Paul, MN Dr. Charles Gregory Hogshead, 30, of St. Paul, MN, and formerly of Matthews, NC, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013. He was born on January 12, 1983 and is the son of George and Kathy Hogshead of McDowell. He is survived by his loving wife, Madeline Jamie Hogshead, formerly of Virginia Beach; two sisters and honorary brothers, Laura Hogshead and Kortney Wells of Washington, DC, and Sarah and Jonathan Patterson of Charlotte, NC; grandparents, Darwin and Patsy King of Monterey and the late Charles and Betty Hogshead of McDowell. Greg earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science Engineering from North Carolina State University, two institutions he loved. He worked as a Senior Product Development Engineer at 3M for the past two years. He leaves behind his devoted wife, family, and countless close friends, who he adored and picked on relentlessly. He will always be remembered as a brilliant, hilarious, and talented young man who could make everyone laugh. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 PM Friday, June 7, 2013 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Staunton with the Rev. Kevin Milcarek officiating. Burial will follow at 4 PM at Blue Grass Cemetery in Blue Grass. After the graveside service, everyone is invited to join the family at the Hogshead cabin (1862 Davis Run Road, McDowell), a place that Greg loved. Memorial donations may be made to the Highland County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 268, Monterey, VA 24465 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
