Charles K. Altizer Jr., 94, passed away at the home of his daughter on Jan. 31, 2025.
He was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Slaty Fork, W.Va., to the late Bertha May (Withrow) and Charles K. Altizer Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Bertha Cales, Catherine Kiser, and Virginia Gott; and beloved niece, Zelda Turner.
C.K. lived in Williamsville for more than 50 years. He was an Army veteran and retired painter. He enjoyed driving along the back roads, telling stories about the old days, enjoyed family gatherings, vintage and antique car shows, and hunting.
Charles was raised during the Great Depression and World War II, and as a teenager, he helped his father in the mines of West Virginia, logging, and on a sawmill.
Survivors include sons, Phillip Altizer and wife, Jan of Navarre, FL, Jeff Altizer and wife, Lynn of Bozeman, MT, and Mark Altizer and wife, Penny of Millboro; a daughter, Phyllis Parrish and husband, John of Heathsville; grandchildren Toni Liebig, Todd Altizer, Alison Konopka, Katherine Altizer, Megan Meinel, Whitney Plecker, and Chase Altizer; seven great-grandchildren; special nephews Jimmy and Jamey Kiser; the best neighbors, Ken and Chris; and his companion, “Happy.”
A graveside memorial service with military rites will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025 at Lyle Chapel Cemetery in Millboro with pastor Jimmy Oliff officiating.
