Charles Newlen Jr.

Charles Richard Newlen Jr., 49, of Staunton, died on Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at a local hospital.

He was employed by Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Detention Center, a member of Harvest Time Assembly of God Church and was an Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Richard Newlen.

Surviving are his mother, Margaret (Puffenbarger) Newlen of Monterey; two daughters, Tiffany and Jessica Newlen, both of Waynesboro; a brother, Ralph W. Newlen of Blue Grass; four sisters, Janet Wimer of Blue Grass, Louise Newlen of Verona, Glenna Neil of McDowell and Joyce Griffin of Monterey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home at McDowell by the Rev. Roy Bickford, with burial at Blue Grass Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. on Monday.
