Charley Eskridge Burns, 79, of Monterey passed away Friday morning, March 23, 1990 at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born August 19m 1910 at Covington, a son of Elmer Edkridge and Mattie A. Buzzard Burns.
He attended Green Hill United Methodist Church, was a veteran of the Army during World War II, a farmer and a blacksmith and a member of the National Rifle Association and the Republican National Committee.
Surviving are a sister, Virginia Buzzard of Minnehaha Springs, WV; three brothers, William and Stanley, both of Monterey and Floyd Burns of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Ginn and Dr. Robert Gue, with burial in Burnsville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Hefner, Kenneth Hause, Roger Lee, Larry and Roger Dean Burns, James Massie, Jerry Curry and Robin Vance.
The family will receive friends, 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
