Clarence Morgan Carpenter, age 69, formerly of Highland County, died Sunday morning, May 7, 1989 at Waynesboro Community Hospital.

He was born September 23, 1919 at Mustoe, a son of Howard M. and Segie (Lowry) Carpenter.

On November 7, 1942, he married Lucy Jenave Harris of Waynesboro, who survives.

He was a member of the Advent Christian Church and the AARP. He retired in 1979 after being employed by the City of Waynesboro for 32 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Wanda G, Slusher of Newport News, Va., two sons, Danny R. of Waynesboro and C. Melvin Carpenter of Lovettsville; a brother, Dewey T. Carpenter of Fishersville,; one half brothers, G. Marvin Kincaid of Waynesboro, and five grandchildren.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Waynesboro Advent Christian Church by the Rev. George Polhill.

Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Gene Hayden, Earl Cloonan, Graydon Slusher, Jax Bowman, Jim Stinnett, and Jack Moore.
