Clement Simmons

MONTEREY, VA Clement Marvin "Poss" Simmons, 82, of Monterey passed away, Monday, October 6, 2014 at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born July 14, 1932 in Vanderpool a son of the late Luther and Rachel Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a self employed roofer and a member of The Church of God. Poss enjoyed working with cattle on his farm, hunting and visiting people throughout the community. His wife, Dorothy (Coffelt) Simmons preceded him in death on June 9, 2001. He was also predeceased by four sisters, Blanche Geiger, Mazie Moyers, Sue Botkin and Nora Bibb and two infant brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Delana Kelly and husband, Chuck of Monterey and Betty Simmons of Mt. Crawford; son, Bobby Simmons of Cloverdale and four grandchildren, Jessica DeAscentis, Sarah Kelly, Stephen and Steffanie Mitchell. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014 in Green Hill Cemetery at Churchville with Pastor Bobbie Jo Gardner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Green Hill Cemetery, 117 Lime Kiln Road, Churchville, VA 24421.
