Clemet "Mike" Halterman

April 29, 1952 — November 10, 2017

Clemet “Mike” Michael Halterman, 65, of Franklin, W.Va. passed away, Friday, November 10, 2017 at Pendleton Manor.

He was born April 29, 1952 in Petersburg, a son of Clemet Halterman of Franklin and the late Frances (Hedrick) Halterman.

Mike was a carpenter and loved to hunt and fish. He will be remembered as a “simple man” with a big heart, who never met a stranger. He was a loving person to all, who enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors at any time of need. Mike was most proud of his entire family and especially enjoyed seeing the grandchildren.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a special friend, Mike Hammer.

Mike is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle “Shelly” and Jeff Vandevender of Blue Grass, Va. and Keri and Kevin Neil of McDowell, Va..; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael “Shawn” and Dawn Halterman of Riverton; grandchildren, Presley Marshall, Cheyana, Kayla and Lukas Halterman, as well as Kristina and Kaden Neil; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Jedidiah; one sister, Karen Harper of Franklin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Cliff and Jenny Halterman of Circleville and Randall and Sherry Halterman of Snowy Mountain; special nephew, Chris Harper;  close family friends, Ronnie Helmick and Steve Timberlake; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in H&H Cemetery (a newly established cemetery behind Mike’s home), Greenwood Drive, Franklin, W.Va., 2 p.m., Sunday, November 26, 2017 with Harold Mullenax officiating.

In addition to his son and nephew, Shawn Halterman and Chris Harper active pallbearers will be Jeff Vandevender, Jeff Simmons, Andy Moyers, Matt Marshall, Cliff Vandevander, and Roger Arbogast.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Helmick, Brian Nelson, Eddie Willis, Tony Warner, Steve Timberlake, Mark and Phillip Halterman.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Obaugh Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the C.M.H Memorial Expense Fund, c/o Blue Grass Valley Bank, P.O. Box 516, Monterey, Va. 24465.

At the request of the family, those attending services are asked to please wear casual attire, as Mike would have wanted that.
