Delmas Doyle

November 26, 1946 — April 27, 2011

Delmas Wayne Doyle, 64, of Bartow, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his home.

He was born Nov. 26, 1946 at Mustoe, Va., a son of Thelma Mae Doyle Hull of Monterey, Va., and the late Russell E. Hull.

As a child, he attended Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church. Mr. Doyle was a construction worker, NASCAR fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a big heart and was willing to help everyone. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of Highland VFW Post 4989.

He is survived by his wife, Elva Jolley Doyle, whom he married on Oct. 16, 1971; his mother, Mae Hull of Monterey, Va.; a son, David Wayne Doyle of Bartow; a granddaughter, Nakayla Doyle; a sister, Carol Ann Maynard and husband, Larry, of Warm Springs, Va.; five brothers, Gary Hull and wife, Kay, Donald Hull and companion, Vickie Hoover, Allen Hull and wife, JoAnn; Larry Hull and wife, Jeanne, and Russell Lee Hull and wife, Melissa, all of Monterey, Va.; an aunt; three uncles; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and greatnephews.

A funeral service was conducted 2 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2011 at Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Melissa Litrel-Harmon officiating.

Burial was in Hamilton Chapel Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jarrett Dever, Berlie Terry, Delmas Lowry, Jerry Shifflett, Pete Kay and Roger Arbogast. Honorary pallbearers were Marty Corbett, Carl Ratcliff and nieces and nephews.
