Dennis Walter Calhoun, 69, of Monterey , died Monday morning, October 31, 1988 at his home.
He was born November 10, 1918 in Hightown, a don of Walter and Iva (Rexrode) Calhoun.
On May 11, 1946 he married Irene Harlow, who survives.
He was a member of Hightown United Methodist Church, a veteran of the Army in World War II and a member of Highland VFW Post 4989. He retired as superintendent for the Monterey District for the Virginia Department of Highways in 1978 and had worked at the Jack Mountain Village for two years.
In addition to his widow, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sandra c. Ingram of Millboro Springs, and Mrs. Iva C. Smith of Monterey; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Fitzgerald of Rockville, Md.; a brother, Ray Calhoun of Cumberland, Md.; and six grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. C. William Cox and Jerry Ginn, with burial in Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence and Dale Beverage, Glen Hiner, Grant Woods, Robert Marshall and Elmer Ruckman.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in McDowell ot at the residence any time.
