Dillon Emory Harper, 85, of Verona, formerly of Highland County, passed away, Monday morning, Feb. 27, 1989 at the Bridgewater Home.
He was born March 12, 1903 in the Cave community of Pendleton County, WV, and was the son of William A. and Cammy J. (Weese) Harper.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church.
On June 28, 1927, he married Eva G. Beverage, who survives.
Also surviving are are a son, O.D. Harper of Staunton; two daughters, Ruth A. Bowers and Doris H. Timberlake, both of Beltsville, Md.; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church at Mt. Sidney by the Rev. Leroy Selbert, with burial in the Harper family cemetery near Blue Grass. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services.
Pallbearers will be the following grandsons, Billy Harper, Jeffrey Bowers, Robb August, David Altizer, Scott Turner and Tom Bowley.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell and at other times at the home of O.D. Harper.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
