Dora Casey

September 20, 1920 — November 14, 2017

Dora B. Casey, of McDowell and Satellite Beach, Fla., passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Brightview Baldwin Park in Staunton.

She was born September 20, 1920 in Chicago, Ill., the only child of the late George Walter and Dora (Bundi) Neubert.

On January 9, 1943 she married Justice Buttala, who was killed on May 26, 1945 while serving on active duty during WWII.

On October 12, 1946 she married Maurice F. Casey II, and together they shared 58 glorious years until his passing in 2004.

Dorie was a military wife and travelled the world with her husband Lt. General Maurice Casey and their children. She had a passion for family, flower gardening and the mountains of Highland County.

She is survived by her children, Shirley Casey and her boyfriend  Jack, Maurice “Tim” F. Casey III and wife Diane, Georgeanne Armstrong and husband Mike, and Michael Casey; her 12 grandchildren; Elissa Borges her husband Doug Woodward, James Borges and late wife Patty, Christopher Horton and wife Cathy, Casey Thaler and wife Aaron, Kevin Horton, Stacey Casey Clem and husband Charlie, Joseph Casey, Brianne Casey, Shannon Casey, Cody Armstrong, Jonathan Casey, and Sean Casey; two great-grandchildren Emma and Duncan Woodward.

Her loving daughter, Faith Horton, preceded her in death in April 2017.

A memorial service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery this coming spring.
