Dorothy W. Hevener, 90, of Harrisonburg and formerly of Hightown, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Oak Lea Nursing Care. She was born March 31, 1918 in Blue Grass, a daughter of Frank Cameron and Bonnie Kate (Wimer) Wimer.
Mrs. Hevener was a homemaker and a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Madison College.
On December 8, 1943, she married Richard W. Hevener, Jr. who preceded her in death on December 24, 2003. She was also predeceased by five sisters, Kathryn Mauzy, Margaret Hull, Virginia Hammer, Janet Pulley and Ruth Mauzy and three brothers, Miller, Alfred and Eugene Wimer.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Pohowsky and Sharon Hevener, both of Hightown and three grandchildren, Christopher Pohowsky of Blacksburg, Ian Pohowsky of Blue Diamond, NV and Samantha Greiff of New York City, NY and a brother-in-law, Jacob Hevener and his wife, Carol of Hightown.
The body was cremated. Burial will be private and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
