Earl Campbell

Earl Lewis Campbell, 73, of Head Waters, passed away, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his home.

He was born Feb. 24, 1938 in Augusta County, a son of the late Lewis Edward and Josie Painter Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by a son, Ed “Eddie” Campbell of Fort Mill, S.C.; a daughter, Dona Grisdale and husband Johnny of Matthews, N.C.; two granddaughters, Kristin Marie Wonderley of Limestone, Tenn., and Amanda Lynne Wonderley of Matthews N.C.; two sisters, Gladys South of Newport News and Pearle Rowe of Staunton; a niece, a nephew and a number of close friends and neighbors.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Lester LaPrade officiating.

A reception for everyone will follow at the home of Pearle Rowe.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday June 2 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Staunton SPCA, P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, Va. 24402.
