Edith Fleisher

Edith Mae Fleisher 86, of Franklin, WV, passed away, Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center, where she had been a resident.

She was born in Blue Grass, Va. on March 14, 1934, a daughter of the late Lucinda Jane (Hedrick) and William Garnet Waybright. On July 30, 1955 she married Emory Dean Fleisher, who preceded her in death on October 30, 2002.

Mrs. Fleisher was born and raised in Blue Grass, Va. and attended Blue Grass School. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Moyers, and attended Christ Central Church at Upper Tract for many years. Mrs. Fleisher worked at Hanover Shoe in the cafeteria and baby sat for a number of children. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mom and caregiver.

She is survived by her sons Michael Dale Waybright and wife, Evelyn of New Market, Va. and Emory Dean Fleisher Jr. and wife, Donna of Franklin; daughter, Elizabeth Rose Alt of Petersburg; six grandchildren, Michael Waybright Jr., Eric Waybright, Adam Waybright, Matthew Fleisher, Chadwick Alt and Melissa Berg; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Lee (Waybright)Fleisher of Harrisonburg, Va.; brother, Melvin Garnet Waybright and wife, Irene of Woodstock, Va.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five sisters, Rizpah “Polly” Boyden, Alda Christine Arbogast, Allene Elizabeth Ludholtz, Almeda Catherine Vandevander and Mary Etta Wagoner; and two brothers William Garnet Waybright and Robert Lee Simmons.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Felici officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be William “Bill” Fleisher, Wayne Fleisher, Dennie Phillips, Michael Waybright Jr., Adam Waybright, Eric Waybright, Matthew Fleisher and Jason Berg.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 9 at Obaugh Funeral Home.
