Elizabeth Francis Simmons, 73, of McDowell passed away, Thursday, November 23, 1989 at her home.
She was born December 6, 1915, a daughter of Graham and Francis Louis (Smith) Hamilton.
On April 13, 1935, she married Virgil Roscoe Simmons, who survives.
She was a member of the McDowell Presbyterian Church and the church circle.
In addition to her husband of McDowell, survivors include six daughters, Betty Hodge of Warm Springs, Fay Cleek of Mitchelltown, Edna Booth of McDowell, Mary Rexrode of Churchville, Virginia Neff of Staunton and Nancy Hatcher of Potomac Park, Md.; son, Wayne R. Simmons of Staunton; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester N. LaPrade. Burial will be in the Clover Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Straway, David Cale, Gary Eutsler, Douglas Stuart, George Hurt, Albert Moats, Billy Hiner and David Neil.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
The family will receive friend 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in McDowell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Rescue Squad, Monterey, Va. 24465.
