Ella Grace (Clayton) Propst, 79, of Monterey, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at her home.
She was born October 2, 1938, in Monterey, a daughter of the late Franklin Edward and Ethel Grace (White) Clayton. On November 11, 1960 she married Ervin “Dale” Propst.
Ella was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Asbury United Methodist Women; alumna of the Monterey High School class of 1957 and was employed as a seamstress at Aileen, Jessico, and finished her career at Hanover Shoe Company.
She will be remembered for the countless hours she spent serving for Asbury United Methodist Church’s food booth during the Highland County Maple Festival, baking and sharing her cakes and pies throughout the community, as well as her love for sewing and popcorn.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by brothers Franklin Edward Clayton Jr. and Michael Wayne Clayton.
Ella is survived by her husband, Dale Propst, of Pendleton Manor, Franklin, W.Va.; daughter, Jennifer Propst of Monterey; sister and special caregiver, Dallas Waybright of Monterey; sister, Myrtle Lambert and husband, Bill of Staunton; caregiver Ann Puffenbarger of Blue Grass; great number of nieces and nephews; as well as special pets, Pepper, Phil, Pixie and Puck.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2018 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastors Bobbie Jo Gardener and Shawna Hiner officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bill Lambert, Rob Halterman, Kirk Propst, Jason Lambert, Greg Lambert, Donnie Halterman, Rick Halterman and Eddie Lambert.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
