Elva LaFon Sheets

Elva (LaFon) Sheets, 84, of Monterey, formerly of Newport, died Tuesday night, February 7, 1989 at bath County Community Hospital.

She was born June 5, 1904 at Pembroke, a daughter of Elliott Garfield and Lucy (Meredith) LaFon.

her husband, Russell Sheets, died march 24, 1958.

She was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church and was retired from Industrial Rayon in Covington in 1961 and had worked at Natural Bridge for several years.

She is survived by a brother, Bill LaFon of Pembroke; two half brothers, Thomas of Craig and Frank LaFon of Kinnalton; three half-sisters; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Clover Hollow Cemetery, Newport by the Rev. Anna Garvis.

Pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends, 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
