Ethel S. Armstrong, 102, of Staunton and formerly of Moyers, WV, passed away Monday evening, May 22, 1989 at the Liberty House Nursing Home, Waynesboro.

She ws born July 22, 1886 in Franklin, WV, a daughter of Patrick Henry and Elizabeth Jane (Hiner) Stover.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Her husband, David Eli Armstrong, died July 29, 1942.

She is survived by two daughters, Myrtle Armstrong of Moyers, WV and Hannah Graham of Mt. Clemens, MI; a son Jack Ray Armstrong of Staunton; two brothers, Stanley of Huntington, WV and George Stover of Belington, WV; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Cemetery, Moyers, WV by Dr. Woodward D. Morris.

Pallbearers will be Paul Thompson, Craig and Barry Armstrong, David and Victor Douglas and Ronald Jr. and Ronald Armstrong,

Friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell and also at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Douglas, Staunton, where she had made her home before entering the nursing home , at aanymy time.

Memorials may be made to the Third Presbyterian Church, 1313 Barterbrooke Road, Staunton, Va. 24401.
