Forest Lee Samples, 85, of Monterey died Saturday, November 14, 1987 at Alleghany Regional Hospital. 

He was born March 30, 1902 at Monterey, a son of Isaac Harmon and Mary Rymer Samples. 

He was a member of Worldwide Church of God and was a livestock farmer before his retirement. 

Survivors include a brother, Ernest Harmon Samples of Clifton Forge; a niece; and a nephew. 

A service was conducted 11 am Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Betty Johnson, with burial in the Samples Family Cemetery on Strait Creek.

Pallbearers will be Randolph Samples, Tom, Bob, Chum, John, Cyril and Lawrence Beverage.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in McDowell.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
