Frederick Wefer

Frederick L. Wefer, 56, died Saturday, October 16, 1999 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

He was a computer engineer at Mitre Corp of McLean and had a Ph.D. in astronomy. He enjoyed caving and was president of the National Speleological Society and a member of the Butler Cave Conservation Society.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Wefer, of McDowell; his mother, Ruby Wefer of Vandalia, Ill.; and a sister Effie Volberg of Lebanon, Ill.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Vandalia.
