French Lee Gum. 68, of Monterey, died Thursday morning, Feb. 2,1989 at Liberty House Nursing Home in Harrisonburg. 
He was born April 21,1920 at Monterey, a son of Charles D. and Minnie C. Simmons Gum. 
Surviving are two brothers, Charles Ray Gum of Penn Laird and June Ervin Gum of Springfield; four sisters, Mabel Samples of Monterey, Mattie Rexrode and Dorothy Hedrick, both of Blue Grass, and Helen Helmick of Mt. Crawford; and a number of nieces and nephews. 
A funeral service was conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Harold Myers Jr. Burial was in the Puffenbarger Cemetery near Monterey.

The family will receive friends, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will ne friends attending the service.
