Geneva Hatcher White, 79, of Monterey, passed away Sunday morning, May 7, 1989 in the University of Virginia Hospital.
She was born February 6, 1919 in Kentuck, WV, a daughter of Roscoe and Icy (Williams) Hatcher.
She we a member of Wesley Chapel Advent Christian Church. She had taught school in West Virginia and she and her husband operated the Head Waters store prior to her retirement.
On December 24, 1931, she married Peter Jackson White, who preceded her in death, November 23, 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy W. King of Monterey; a son, Ronald J. White of Monterey; a sister, Eloise Hopkins of Elkhart, Ind.; two brothers, Howard Hatcher of Gallipolis, Ohio and Wayne Hatcher of Ripley, WV' sever grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Robert Gue and C. William Cox and Pastor Chip Hill. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George L. Hogshead, Wayne Marshall, Steve White Jr., Jack Chestnut, John Hopkins and Steven Guy White.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends 7:30-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in McDowell and at other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may made to the Highland Rescue Squad or the Highland County Volunteer Fire Department, Monterey, Va. 24465.
