George Benjamin "Ben" Schooler

December 13, 1977 — August 20, 2025

Marlinton, WV

George Benjamin "Ben" Schooler, age 47, of Marlinton, WV, and formerly of Blue Grass, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as the result of a trucking accident on Snowy Mountain Road, Circleville, WV.

He was born December 13, 1977 in Lexington, SC, a son of Jack Lee and Mary (Davis) Schooler of Blue Grass.

Ben was preceded in death by a brother, Aaron Lee Schooler; as well as his grandparents.

In addition to his parents, surviving family members include his sister, Charlotte Rebekah Kerr and husband, Ryan of Gladys; two brothers, Charles E. Schooler and wife, Laura of Evington and Lucas K. Schooler and friend, Renda K. Farthing of Blue Grass; nephews, William Aaron Schooler and Christopher Lee Schooler, both of Evington, and Jackson Daniel Kerr and Harrison Lee Kerr, both of Gladys; best friend Raechel Dunaway and her daughter, Lilly of Lexington; as well as a number of "adopted" nieces and nephews.

How does one condense someone's life to a few words? In truth, one cannot. From the day he was born, we knew Ben was special. From a young age, he sought out adventure with his friends, Travis and Derek. At the age of 11, he was diagnosed with a heart condition; however, that did not slow him down. Over the next few decades, he battled multiple health issues that would have broken most men, but Ben did not give up. He chose to live the best possible life he could with the time God gave him on this earth. Weekends were spent competing in truck pulls and during the week he could be found in his road tractor. He also loved spending time with family and friends. Ben lived to make others smile with a funny story or a silly song. If you needed something, all you had to do was call, and he would try his best to help you. To the world’s standards, he may not have been rich. To Ben his riches were his friends, family, and faith. In recent years, he enjoyed serving with his church and participating in mission trips; his greatest desire had been to see people come to know his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Above all, he will forever be remembered for his smile and laugh.

A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kerr Creek Baptist Church, 66 Franks Lane, Lexington, VA, 24450.
