Gerald Kenton Harper, 53, of Monterey died Sunday, March 4, 1990 at his home.
He was born February 4, 1937 at Monterey, a son of Roy Kenton and Lola Mae (Vandevander) Harper.
He was a member of the Forks of Water United Brethren Church, a logger, and a construction worker. He had served in the National Guard.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Judy M. Harper of Monterey; five sons, Erik A. Harper and Christopher Shawn Moyers, both of Monterey, Kenneth L., James A. and William J. Harper, all of Franklin, WV; four sisters, Brenda Rexrode and Maxine Shultz, both of Monterey, Ruby Gail Sponaugle and Elaine Lambert, both of Franklin, WV; brother, Henry Harper of Monterey; one grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Franklin Perdue and Levin Coulbourn. Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randolph Wagner, Olin Waybright, Leray Rexrode, Larry Moyers, Ernie Lightner and Clinton Bowers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Lambert, Bill Brooks, C.W. Hammer, Billy Pritt, Gene Wagner, Gary Rexrode,Dr. T.E. Billingsley, Bill Sullivan, Michael Halterman, Gary Vandevander, Dale Propst, Dale Puffenbarger, Rodger Propst, Earl Alt and Richard Barkley.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
