Gerald Ratcliff

Gerald Howard Ratcliff, 81, of Monterey, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at the home of his grandson.
He was born Aug. 6, 1929 in Mustoe, a son of the late John Howard and Elva Kate McLaughlin Ratcliff.
Mr. Ratcliff was a member of Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church, an avid outdoorsman and loved time with family and friends. He had worked for Rexrode Masonry.
He was married 47 years to Meredith “Romane” Ratcliff, who preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2000. He was also predeceased by a sister, Clara Ratcliff.
He is survived by a son and daughterin law, Gerald Allen and Nina Ratcliff of Covington; a grandson, Daniel Ratcliff and wife Stacey of Virginia Beach; a great- granddaughter, Courtney Meredith Ratcliff; a brother, Carl Ratcliff of Mustoe; and a special niece and caregiver, Myra Lowry of Monterey.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Kenny Carroll officiating. Burial will be private.
Active pallbearers will be Daniel Ratcliff, Doug Gutshall, Steven Cummings, Holmes Stephenson, Ludford Creef, Richard Waybright, Charlie Simmons and Jerry Rexrode.
