Gertrude Simmons Snyder

Gertrude Simmons Snyder, 92, formerly of Doe Hill, died Wednesday, October 13,1987 at Camelot Hall Nursing Home in Harrisonburg. 

She was born April 16, 1895 at Doe Hill, a daughter of Jame Madison and Lucy Alice Cayton Simmons. S

he was a member of Doe Hill United Methodist Church. On Jan. 7, 1920 she married Henry Clay Snyder, who die Jan. 6,1969. 

Surviving are two daughters Bessie Moats of Dayton an Pauline Nichols of Dolton, ILL; a son Richard Snyder of McGaheysville; and 18 grand children, 24 great-grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by three children, Beulah Puffenbarger, Ann Anmann and Viva Ayers.

A service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lowell Stovall with burial in Doe HIll Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dean, David, Gary and Mike Simmons, Bob Armstrong, Lee Blagg, Eddie Moyers and John Moyers Jr.

Great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in McDowell.
