Gilbert Moats

Gilbert Moats, 39, of Staunton, died Friday morning, February 24, 1989 at his home.

He was born February 19, 1950 in McDowell, a son of Grover C. and Lillie (Malcolm) Moats Sr. of Staunton.

He was employed at Hays Chevrolet.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his widow, Mary (Graham) Moats of Staunton; a daughter, Tammy Sue Moats of Stuarts Draft; two sons, Gilbert Lee and Charles Ray Moats, both of Staunton; four sisters, Lucy Koiner of Staunton, Virginia Simmons of West Augusta, Betty Woolridge of Churchville and Margie VanPelt of Verona; four brothers, William Smith of McDowell, Bryon Moats of Mt. Solon, Grover C. Moats Jr. of Woodbridge and James Moats of Churchville.

A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve McMillion, with burial in Totten Chapel Cemetery near Moyers, WV.

Pallbearers will be Richard L. Bright, Homer Moats, Elmer VanPelt, Cal Puffenbarger, Roy Reed and Gene Tillis.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Hays Chevrolet and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in McDowell.
