Glenda Nadine Gibbs

Glenda Nadine Gibbs, age 93, of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at her home.

She was born February 16, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of the late Harvey and Neada Mae (Earnst) Covell.

On March 22, 1969, she married Clifford Ward Gibbs, who preceded her in death in 2001.

Retired from Frederick Memorial Hospital, Glenda had been employed in housekeeping. Always an active lady with a strong work ethic, following her retirement she continued to work alongside her niece in private housekeeping for many years. Above all, Glenda found joy in helping others and truly loved simply being with her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Gene Tomlin; five brothers, Marvin, Paull, Odell, Charles and Harvey Covell Jr.; and two sisters, Miriam Covell Minnick and Elizabeth Covell.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny Gibbs of Monterey; five grandchildren, David Kemp, Heather Kemp, Jessic Tomlin, Lindsay Dawson and Garrick Tomlin; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as five great-great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, her body was cremated and her family will commemorate her life at a later date.
