Glenna Colaw

MONTEREY, VA Glenna Louvina Colaw, 93, of Monterey, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at Augusta Health. She was born July 5, 1921 in Blue Grass a daughter of the late Ambrose and Blanche (Fox) Wimer. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, she was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, canning and will be remembered as a great cook. She graduated from Blue Grass High School class of 1940. She was a member of the former New Church (Methodist), Crabbottom Presbyterian Church as well as president of the Crabbottom Women's' Group. She was also a member of Highland County Cancer Society and Blue Grass and Highland Extension Clubs. On June 22, 1940, she married Paul Swecker Colaw, who preceded her in death on June 16, 2009. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Opal Wimer Gum, Greta Wimer Gum, Virgil Ray Wimer, Roscoe Wimer, Arvie Wimer, Argle W. Sponaugle and Evelyn Harper. Surviving family members include a daughter, Betty C. Kiser and husband, David of Blue Grass; son, Sam Colaw and wife, Carol of Monterey; four granddaughters, Scarlett A. Kiser of Waynesboro, Melanie Simmons and husband, Scott of Huddleston, Paula Colaw and James Layman of Hightown and Kim Moyers and husband, Perry of Monterey; three great-grandsons, Isaac and Owen Simmons and Ransom Moyers, and her sister-in-law, Josephine Wimer of Blue Grass. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in Blue Grass Cemetery with the Rev. C. William "Bill" Cox and Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Wimer, Virgil L. Wimer, Lanny Wimer, Joe Will, Gary Jack and Jackie Will. Friends may call at the homes of Betty or Sam. Additionally, Obaugh Funeral Home will keep the room open for viewing opportunity throughout the day and into the evening on Monday, March 23 for those wishing to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Grass Cemetery, 3042 Blue Grass Valley Rd, Blue Grass, VA 24413.
